SFC's AGM Held on the 12th May 2008

The 12th May 2008 saw the clubs AGM at its usual place, The Davis Room in Swallowfield Parish Hall. It was good to see some of the club members supporting the club although attendance seemed to be a little down on last year.

The Meeting was opened by the Chairman, Mr Roger Padbury, who welcomed all and thanked the committee for the support over the last year and to all of those who efforts had gone into running of the club. The club officers delivered their reports, with membership secretary, Martyn McCarthy reporting on an increase in adult membership and a total count of 112 members acros the board. The majority of the new applications have come via the printable forms from the club website. Treasurer Jeff Curtis reported that the club funds remained healthy and the small increase in membership was making a big difference. He reported on the purchase of equipment for the working parties and the allocation of funds to the Decoy Pond Restoration. The match secretary then provide everyone with the seasons match results and catch weights, some good, some bad and an overall increase in the match attendance levels compared to previous years.

Two members of the existing committee stood down this year due to work commitments to many thanks to Mark Jarvis and Marcus Green for their contributions and efforts over the years. Two new members were duely elected, so a warm welcome and thanks to Pete Mouring and Lee Atkins for filling these vacant positions.

As with last year, the committee decided to hold a prize draw of a years free membership for all of those who attended. Congratulations to Mr Ron Norris on winning the membership.

The club would once again like to thanks all of those who attended the meeting and for showing your support, we hope the new season brings some great fishing on the rivers and would hopoe to see you all onb the bank at some point.
