Swallowfield Fishing Club

First outing onto the Blackwater last week, lovely evening to be by the river! Started off with a couple of hours trotting, and had a stack of Dace, Roach, Gudgeon, Bleak, and a few Chublets.....excellent to see these fish showing up. Finished the evening by watching a couple of motionless rod tips in the hope of a bigger Chub, or Barbel but nothing was forthcoming.

I intend to fish the Blackwater section a bit more this season as previous visits have tended to see me on the Loddon.....so any advice re Blackwater Barbel would be most appreciated

Its good to here the small fish are in abundance. Hopefully they will stay resident and grow on. It will be interesting to see how the river fishes this year with the dropping of the weir at Arborfield. The pace of the water should be a little quicker hopefully to the liking of the Dace & Chub. Keep the feedback coming as the info is a valuable reference for the future.
Hope you get into some of the barbel soon.
